These terms cover the purchase and use of Document Makeover, a browser-based application sold as a one-time download. Buying the product means you accept them.
A downloadable application that runs in your own web browser, on your own computer. It converts Word (.docx), plain text, Markdown and saved web pages into designed, branded PDFs. There is no subscription, no account, and no server component - once downloaded it works offline.
The price is $27, charged once. It includes the version current at the time of purchase. Future versions, if any, are not promised and are not included.
You may use the software on your own computers, for as many of your own documents as you like, including documents you sell. The PDFs you produce are yours - sell them, give them away or publish them however you wish.
You may not resell, share, give away, sublicense or rebrand the software itself, publish its code as your own, or pass it on as part of another product.
The license is granted to you personally and is not transferable. It lasts for as long as you honor it. Copyright in the software remains with its owner; nothing here transfers ownership of the code.
It reads Word, text, Markdown and saved web pages. It does not read PDFs - PDF is what comes out, not what goes in. The optional AI features (logo maker, cover art, title suggestions) require your own API key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or OpenRouter, and you pay that provider directly for what you use. Every other feature works without a key.
The software formats documents; it does not grant you rights to them. Whether a particular document may be sold or published depends on the rights that came with that document. Your own writing, and any content you hold the rights to, is exactly what the tool is for.
The software is provided as-is. It is tested and working, but it is not warranted to be free of every fault on every computer and browser. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in connection with the product is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Checkout is handled by Gumroad, Inc., acting as merchant of record. Gumroad takes the payment, issues your receipt, delivers the download and collects and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST due. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
We may update these terms for future purchases; the version in force is the one published here on the day you buy. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA.
